One currency, several accounts

Avios connects separate programmes. British Airways Club, Iberia Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club support transfers between eligible accounts held by the same person through their designated linking tools. This does not merge accounts or automatically move status. The useful first question is where to book your intended trip. Deciding where to hold the balance comes afterwards.

Prepare the accounts ahead of time

Compare names, dates of birth and email addresses across your profiles, correcting discrepancies through official channels. The Iberia account must be at least 90 days old. Opening it while chasing the last award seat may therefore be too late. A successful link does not confirm flight availability; it only prepares the accounts for a transfer. Linking Qatar Privilege Club and British Airways also requires at least 30 days since account creation. After changing the email address in your British Airways profile, wait seven days before linking; first name, surname, date of birth and email must match.

Three quotes before moving points

Search the same journey in the relevant programmes using matching dates, cabins and passenger counts. Record Avios, additional cash, baggage, changes and cancellation terms. Fewer Avios may come with a larger cash payment or less suitable conditions. A nonstop flight and a connection are not identical products: travel time is a material difference.

Move only what you need

Sign in through the official website, select the linked programme and check the direction and amount before confirming. Keep the receipt and inspect both balances. Transfers may be delayed even when they usually appear promptly. For an urgent booking, having the required balance already in the chosen programme removes one dependency; it still does not hold the seat.

Connect the strategy, not the prices

A purely illustrative calculation: 18,000 Avios in account A and 12,000 in account B can become 30,000 in one account through an eligible transfer. This proves neither that a 30,000-Avios award exists nor that its taxes are low. The tool concentrates points you already own. Value comes from the eventual booking, not the larger number on one screen.
