Europe is not automatically the roaming area

As of 20 September 2026, Albania is not automatically within the EU domestic-rate roaming area. An Italian operator may include it voluntarily: check your contract’s allowance, validity and surcharges. If an existing package covers the trip, another eSIM may be unnecessary. Negotiations or announcements are not yet operational tariff terms.

Three sizes to compare costs

Saily displays 1 GB for seven days at EUR3.49, 5 GB for 30 days at EUR11.49 and 10 GB for 30 days at EUR19.49. Confirm these checked catalogue prices at payment. The smallest package may suit light usage, but remaining data does not extend seven-day validity across a ten-day holiday.

Check borders and ferries separately

For onward travel to Montenegro, Greece or Kosovo, compare the regional plan’s exact country list with your route. “Europe” or “Balkans” alone is insufficient. Ferry satellite networks follow different rules from terrestrial roaming: an Albania package or EU roaming does not automatically include service at sea.

Prepare without wasting validity

Check model compatibility and carrier unlocking. Read the start policy before installation: some packages begin on the supported network, others on installation. Do not generalise one brand’s procedure. Distinguish both lines, select the travel line for data and enable roaming as required by the product instructions.

Choose for your route

For Tirana, the coast or mountain routes, ask about partner networks and stop-specific coverage. A higher price does not guarantee better reception. Save maps and the accommodation address offline. For sharing, check hotspot and total usage; if travellers separate, compare individual plans with dependence on one phone.
