The setting

Some hotels become part of a journey before arrival. On the Croisette, the Martinez brings the imagery of Cannes and a distinctive Art Deco identity. Condé Nast Traveler describes Pierre-Yves Rochon’s interiors in white, pale blue and gold.

Such a setting raises expectations for the quieter moments too: waking up, returning to the room and making an ordinary request. These details became the measure of our stay.

Breakfast on the terrace

The terrace offered the promise of a lovely start. After roughly fifteen minutes, however, we went inside to find assistance. Ordering eggs then required repeated explanations that they were included in our rate.

A steadier presence outdoors and information shared between teams would have made the morning smoother. In this setting, luxury means being able to stay at the table and let breakfast unfold naturally.

On the plate

The avocado toast arrived with bread, avocado and poached egg presented separately. The preparation did not persuade us as a whole or meet our breakfast expectations. We would have preferred a more harmonious plate, immediately enjoyable to eat. This was our impression of that order, which we subsequently shared with the hotel.

Care in the everyday spaces

In our room, the carpet was visibly dirty. We found the pool crowded and less convincingly organised than expected. Both observations touched on the ease we look for in a grand hotel: returning to a carefully kept room and enjoying shared spaces at a comfortable pace.

The conversation afterwards

After the satisfaction survey, guest relations invited us to explain further. We replied with the specific incidents, giving the feedback something concrete to work from. That invitation deserves recognition; we do not have subsequent confirmation that the issues were resolved.

The SoftLuxNotes verdict

The Martinez retains the appeal of a grand Croisette address. During our stay, breakfast, room cleanliness and pool organisation did not fully sustain that promise. Its setting remains a reason to consider it, with measured expectations of service: the hotel’s character deserves equally convincing everyday care.
