A terrace above Pyrgos
On Santorini, sunset often sets the scene for dinner. At Madame Sousou in Pyrgos, we liked how the landscape became part of the evening without making it feel overly formal. An intimate wine bar and restaurant, Greek plates to share and time to linger as the light changes.
We chose an outdoor table for dinner. The island views and sunset colours gave the evening the right rhythm: relaxed, sociable and unhurried enough to enjoy what arrived at the centre of the table.

The pleasure of sharing
The idea is simple and works well: order several plates, taste them together and let conversation accompany the meal. We found it natural and informal, yet considered enough for a special evening.
The cooking stayed close to recognisable Greek flavours. That familiarity was part of the pleasure: dishes that did not need to become complicated to be enjoyable. Sharing gave the meal a more spontaneous shape, with each of us free to find a path through the plates.
A menu with a Greek character
The official menu includes chicken souvlaki, pork gyros and its own interpretation of moussaka. These references help explain the restaurant’s language, between tradition and a personal presentation. Local produce and island flavours remain the thread.
We would choose a balanced selection for the whole table, guided by the available menu and the team’s suggestions. The dishes mentioned describe the offering rather than a list of what we ordered.

Wine as part of the evening
A bottle of local wine completed our table and strengthened the connection to Santorini. In a restaurant built around sharing, wine joins the same conversation, accompanying different dishes and giving the meal continuity.
We like this idea of a wine bar, where choosing a bottle has room without turning the evening into a technical exercise. Returning, we would begin with the island’s wines again and ask for advice suited to the plates and our own taste.
Service that puts you at ease
Service was one of the strongest parts of our experience. The team was warm, attentive and sincerely friendly, with a presence that accompanied the evening without interrupting it.
It is a quiet quality, but a decisive one: we felt looked after while remaining free to enjoy the table, wine and view. That ease gave real substance to the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere.
Look inside as well
The terrace is the immediate attraction, but the interior gives the place further personality. Handmade ceramics with Greek and Sicilian influences, porcelain and decorative details create a Mediterranean character we found pleasantly individual.
Those details complement the memory of the view. Madame Sousou felt like an address with its own voice, recognisable even when you turn away from the landscape.
The SoftLuxNotes verdict
Madame Sousou won us over through the balance of shared plates, local wine, service and setting. The evening felt special without requiring formality. That ease, more than any single element, would bring us back.
We would choose the same approach: an outdoor table, several dishes in the centre and a bottle from Santorini, arriving before the sun disappears. Confirm the arrival time, terrace availability and menu directly, then let dinner find its natural pace.
