Compare current Italian products

Advertised monthly prices are EUR 55 for Revolut Ultra and EUR 70 for Italian personal Platinum. Twelve monthly payments total EUR 660 and EUR 840 respectively, a EUR 180 difference without assuming annual-billing prices or older contract terms. Fees are only the starting point. Foreign-market prices and expired promotions distort the comparison.

One point per euro is not the same outcome

Both products ordinarily advertise one point per eligible euro, but the currencies belong to different programmes. Italian Amex lists three MR for two Flying Blue miles and five MR for four Iberia Avios. Revolut requires the partner ratio shown in the account. Compare final miles for the same objective and the exclusions, not the points total before transfer.

Lounge and insurance packages are not interchangeable

For lounges, list upcoming airports, terminals and companions, then check each product’s access and guest charges. Compare insurance documents for covered people, duration, payment requirements, exclusions and excesses. A longer service list does not prove more suitable cover. Do not assign the cost of two policies to a need requiring only one.

Payments and transfers have their own constraints

Amex’s non-preset limit is not unlimited spending. For both products, check payment, exchange, cash and acceptance conditions relevant to your merchants. Revolut mileage transfers are irreversible and may take up to two business days. Search the award first and consider seats disappearing during the wait. The larger points balance is not necessarily the more useful one.

One decision, three scenarios

Compare keeping your current product, replacing it and holding both. For the last option, add the fees and remove duplicated benefits. Assess year one with an achievable bonus and the following year without repeating it. If value depends on inventing spending to use credits or earn points, revisit the assumption. A simpler plan with services purchased only when needed may also make sense.
