The Storehouse is on Parkes Street inside Here East, E20 3AX: a public working store with about half a million works and small displays along the route. General Storehouse entry needs no booking. Order an Object is different: to see a selected object up close, arrange a free appointment online at least two weeks before your visit.

Hours, tickets and booking

Both sites list daily opening from 10:00 to 18:00, extending to 22:00 on Thursdays and Saturdays. General admission is free; check the separate price and availability of any exhibition or event you want to see. Storehouse lists a 24–26 December closure. Opening hours and programmes can change, so revisit the official pages before travelling, especially for an evening plan.

The walk between the two buildings

Do not navigate to a single address for both sites: the V&A provides a dedicated walking map. From the Museum’s Lower Ground exit, cross Tallow Bridge over the River Lea, then follow Marshgate Lane and Waterden Road to the Storehouse entrance on Parkes Street. The Museum lists Stratford stations at roughly 15–20 minutes on foot; for Storehouse, Hackney Wick Overground is listed as an eight-minute walk. Allow some slack for the transfer instead of treating it as a timed connection.

Bags and accessible access

Both Museum entrances are step-free. Its free lockers include a small number suitable for cabin-size cases. At Storehouse, bags and coats must go in lockers before the collections area, and there is no storage for large luggage. Arrange another place for a suitcase before heading to Stratford. You can visit the two sites in sequence; with limited time, pick the one that fits your interests rather than rushing between them.
