Can you go up without booking skiing?

Yes. CopenHill lists rooftop access, walking and running, plus the lift all the way to the top, as free during opening hours. It is therefore an option if you only want the view. That free access does not mean permission to use the ski slope without a booking. Open the official website and choose the hours for walkers, Rooftop Café and the lift rather than the skiing timetable. Source: CopenHill homepage.

The timetable for October 2026

The current official page lists Monday noon–5 p.m.; Tuesday–Friday noon–7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. These are Copenhagen local times for the rooftop, walkers and lift, not a year-round timetable. Checked on 21 October against the current English and Danish pages, which agree. Events, private bookings and power-plant maintenance can change access. Before setting off, scroll through special opening hours for your day as well. Source: CopenHill, Opening Hours.

Saturday closes two hours earlier from November

For November 2026, the published calendar keeps Monday noon–5 p.m. and Tuesday–Friday noon–7 p.m.; both Saturday and Sunday become 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The useful change is Saturday: closing moves from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. Teaching example: arriving at 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday would leave 90 minutes under the regular October timetable; November’s timetable would already show closed. This is not confirmed access on a specific date. Recheck exceptions and leave time to come down. Source: official calendar; comparison by SoftLuxNotes.

Plan the journey as part of the visit

The official address is Vindmøllevej 6, 2300 København S. Use the operator’s Getting Here page to plan a route, then check the actual transport on your travel day. Do not treat the rooftop as simply another walk in the city centre: account for the transfer before adding appointments afterwards. To choose a time, work back from when you need to be free again and separate travel, going up and coming down. We do not promise a journey time here. Address source: CopenHill, Getting Here.

Walking routes, wind and animals

Safety & Weather warns that strong winds can close the recreational facilities. Only ski or snowboard boots are permitted on the green ski surface; walkers should follow the side routes and signs. The FAQ excludes pets from both the rooftop and ski centre, with an exception for service dogs. Check these conditions before setting off with a dog or making the ascent the fixed centrepiece of your day. Sources: official safety page and FAQ.

Deciding whether it fits your day

For a view-focused visit, compare the total time required with the time you want to spend elsewhere in Copenhagen. Taking the lift is a different choice from walking up; decide which experience you want first. If your aim is simply to see the city from above, there is no need to add a sporting activity to make the stop feel “complete”. Keep access to the view, drinks, transport and booked activities separate in your budget. Free admission does not automatically make the whole outing free.
