Choose the stay first
A useful reward night is one you already wanted to book. Before focusing on Radisson points, compare location, total price and cancellation with other suitable hotels. Paying extra simply to build a balance shifts the cost rather than removing it. In the Americas, check the correct programme too: Radisson Rewards Americas was integrated into Choice Privileges in 2023.
The correct earning rates
The current programme uses Club, Premium and VIP. Ordinary earning rates are 8, 27 and 36 points per US dollar of eligible spending, not per euro. Prize by Radisson awards half those rates. Check that the channel and rate qualify: third-party bookings do not earn points. The bill total alone therefore does not establish a guaranteed credit.
Discount Booster: measure the trade-off
For Premium and VIP, Discount Booster can provide up to 20% off while reducing earning to 9 and 12 points per US dollar respectively. “Up to” does not guarantee the maximum on every booking. Compare quotes for the same room and cancellation with and without the option: cash payable first, points earned second. Do not combine the discounted price with the higher ordinary earning rate.
Promotions and buying points
A limited promotion needs separate checks for registration, dates, properties and caps. No particular bonus percentage should be assumed permanently active. Before buying points, verify a specific redemption and its full cost; the FAQ states that points purchases are non-refundable. A larger balance remains tied to the programme rather than becoming cash usable on any trip.
Transfers and account upkeep
American Express lists Radisson as a direct Italian partner: 2 Membership Rewards become 5 Radisson points, with an estimated 3–20 business days for transfer. The numerical ratio alone does not establish value; check the discount on your intended stay. Monitor account activity too: after 24 months without activity, the programme may cancel points. Collect them with a realistic plan for using them.
