Free, but not across the entire fleet
SWISS’s new Starlink Wi-Fi is free for Travel ID users and Miles & More members in every travel class on equipped aircraft. You do not need Business solely to access this service: the stated requirement is the account alongside the aircraft’s equipment. SWISS announced introduction from 28 September 2026, starting with A320neo HB-JDM, “Iseltwald”. Source: SWISS releases of 28 September (links under Sources & verification).
Three checks before relying on connectivity
Before departure, check that you can access your Travel ID or have your Miles & More service-card number ready. SWISS’s German release specifies these credentials for free access. On board, confirm that Starlink is actually available and follow the portal and crew instructions; the airline logo alone does not identify the connection.
Download documents, tickets and content you need offline while still on the ground. This is practical preparation, not an activation procedure verified for every device. We are not supplying an unverified network name or portal address. Source for eligibility: SWISS’s 28 September release.
An A320neo does not guarantee Starlink
SWISS identifies HB-JDM as the first equipped aircraft and names LX1852 Zurich–Thessaloniki as its announced inaugural flight. That does not make the flight number a permanent Starlink guarantee. Installation is gradual, with the entire fleet targeted by the end of 2029. We do not have a verified list of aircraft equipped today. Source: official SWISS announcement.
Compare schedule, connections and price before Wi-Fi when choosing the trip. If connectivity matters, look for information on the specific flight: a general fleet description is not confirmation for that departure.
Messages and content, without calls or live broadcasts
SWISS prohibits voice calls, video calls and live broadcasting during the flight. Video and audio users should wear headphones and listen to crew announcements; photographs and videos should respect other passengers’ and crew members’ privacy. The call restriction applies even when other online services work. Source: rules in SWISS’s 28 September release.
The useful comparison for working travellers
A Wi-Fi flight may help you answer messages or read prepared material. A plan that depends on joining a video meeting during the flight conflicts with the stated rules. Put that meeting before or after the flight and prepare a task that works offline.
We assign no guaranteed cash value to connectivity and promise neither speed nor continuous reception: we have not tested it on board. For an important deadline, treat Wi-Fi as a possible aid and keep an offline plan.
A photograph of the identified aircraft
