30 November is not everyone’s expiry date
Air Canada protects points that would otherwise expire through 29 November 2026. The ordinary policy resumes on 30 November: affected accounts need a qualifying transaction completed beforehand. The pause does not promise a fresh 18 months for every balance.
Points activity is what counts
The normal rule is 18 months without activity. Aéroplan specifies earning or redeeming at least one point within that period and also lists donations, transfers and conversions. This does not mean every product permits a one-point transaction.
Start with the account
The official steps are to sign in to Aeroplan, open Activity and scroll to the points inactivity date. We have not inspected your account or confirmed the posting time or fees of any particular transaction.
Protection has specific requirements
The French page confirms protection with Aeroplan Elite Status or as primary holder of a TD Aeroplan, American Express Aeroplan or CIBC Aeroplan card. An ordinary Italian Amex does not establish that requirement.
Check before chasing points
Our approach: inspect the date and your own protection, then consider qualifying activity that makes sense for you. We would not buy an unwanted trip just to move a balance. Starting a request and completing it are different things: afterwards, check that activity and the revised date appear in the account. No transaction was made for this article. A Canadian skyline may inspire a future trip; it gives points no guaranteed cash value and proves no reward-seat availability. Preserving flexibility beats turning a deadline into rushed spending. Base the decision on what you would actually use rather than the size of the points balance alone.
