KrisFlyer from an Italian card: check the conversion

The verified Italian route

For KrisFlyer miles from Italian card spending, Membership Rewards provides a route on products permitting partner transfers. Gold and Platinum do not thereby become Singapore Airlines cards: you first earn MR, then request conversion. Check the specific card, excluded spending and fee. Conditions from overseas card websites do not automatically apply in Italy.

The rate is 3:2

The checked ordinary rate is three MR to two KrisFlyer miles. Thus 90,000 MR produce 60,000 miles; 1:1 is not the Italian standard here. The minimum is 1,500 MR with increments of 300 MR. Multiply the miles missing for an award by 3/2 and adjust to permitted increments.

No guaranteed instant transfer

Amex quotes an estimated 3–20 business days. The KrisFlyer account must belong to the cardholder and transfers cannot be cancelled. Search for all travellers first and check that the result is not just a waitlist. Do not buy non-refundable connections assuming immediate posting and unchanged seat availability.

Marriott halves the result in this example

At standard rates, 75,000 MR become 60,000 Bonvoy and then 25,000 KrisFlyer, including Marriott’s 5,000-mile bonus for a 60,000-point block. The same 75,000 MR transferred directly produce 50,000 KrisFlyer. The intermediate step is therefore less efficient in this comparison. Existing Bonvoy balances or specific promotions require a fresh complete calculation.

A card does not guarantee a Suite

The award depends on route, cabin, dates, availability, taxes and surcharges. A welcome bonus is not a secured Suites flight: check the cabin on every segment and the total cost. Compare cards using eligible spending and benefits you would use, not a hypothetical ticket at its highest list price.
