Fix the travel period

For 15 days in Japan, public unlimited offers show US$48.99 from Saily and US$50.50 from Holafly. These amounts describe the product pages checked, without coupons or currency conversion. Recheck the selected product’s final order total. Airalo also offers unlimited data, but the retrieved page displayed CAD, so we do not turn that screen into a US-dollar ranking.

The premium over fixed data

Saily also lists 20 GB for 30 days at US$24.99. Moving from that package to 15-day unlimited costs US$24 more in this example. These are different services, with different allowances and validity periods, but the gap makes the premium for removing a total allowance tangible. If you expect to use only 5 GB, the US$10.99 package may make the higher spending unnecessary.

Unlimited volume, conditional speed

Saily Japan lists 5 GB daily at full speed, then up to 1 Mbps. Holafly refers to local partners’ fair-use policies, without an established universal threshold for every connection. Dividing the price by a theoretically infinite allowance is therefore unhelpful. Consider whether service after a speed reduction still suits your tasks.

The whole-trip cost

Check your existing carrier’s offer too: a travel eSIM is not automatically cheapest. For groups and computers, include sharing terms; Holafly Japan lists 1 GB of hotspot daily. Add up purchases needed for every traveller, rather than just the first phone’s price. Convenience can justify spending more, as long as it is not presented as a saving that does not exist.
