Before crossing the border

Switzerland is not automatically part of domestic-rate EU roaming, but that does not mean every Italian contract excludes it. Carriers may include it voluntarily. Check the country, data, calls and charges beyond the allowance before buying an eSIM. If your route also covers Italy, France or Germany, consider a regional option only after reading its country list: geography and tariff areas do not necessarily match.

Airalo and Saily: different allowances

Airalo names Sunrise as its primary network and displays unlimited packages for 7 days at €22.50, 15 days at €41 and 30 days at €60.50. Check the individual package conditions. Saily offers, among other options, 5 GB for 30 days at €12.49 and 10 GB for 30 days at €20.49. Its 15-day unlimited plan costs €40.99, with 5 GB daily at full speed and then up to 1 Mbps. Fixed allowances are totals, not daily allocations.

Holafly: currency and hotspot

The Holafly table reviewed lists US$27.50 for 7 days and US$50.50 for 15 days. These are dollars and cannot be ranked against euro prices without an explicit conversion and final payment cost. Prepaid data sharing is 1 GB per day. For laptop work, consider this limit alongside fair-use rules; “unlimited” alone does not describe the allowance available to other devices.

Nomad and GigSky: different checks

Nomad displays 30-day packages of 3 GB at €7.84, 5 GB at €10.89 and 10 GB at €17.86. It lists Salt and Sunrise, with actual network details to be checked in the package. No unverified Swiss price is quoted for GigSky. Its general unlimited-plan FAQ does state 3.5 GB of daily high-speed data, possible subsequent reduction and a reset every 24 hours from activation. A concrete Swiss plan quote is therefore still needed for a price comparison.

Plan mountain connectivity separately

The listed networks do not guarantee reception in every valley, tunnel or trail. Compare network maps with your route, save tickets and maps offline, and do not make mobile connectivity your only resource on a hike.
